California Nebula

Description
The California Nebula (NGC 1499) is a beautiful emissions nebula in the constellation Perseus, visible in northern skies from late fall to early spring. This photograph is a 3-panel mosaic, each based on 36 five-minute long exposures captured on a 115mm telescope from an Indiana backyard in November 2022. To better bring out the beautiful details, it separates and recombines ionized hydrogen (H-alpha: shades of red) and ionized oxygen ([OIII]: shades of blue). If you buy one of these prints, I'll also send you watermark-free backgrounds for a desktop (16:9 desktop: perfect for Zoom calls!) and iPhone/Android (19.5:9). I hope you enjoy the beauty of this gorgeous nebula. If you'd like to learn more about the technical details of how I created this photo, please visit: https://www.astrobin.com/6cazro/
